NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Struggling Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
In a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Wins Game
Even with recording nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.
Record Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a chance to drive for a possible victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
